Rev. Francis Kanaley was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Buffalo, New York, on June 2, 1907. He was a graduate of Georgetown University and studied for the priesthood in St. Bernard Seminary in Rochester. His first assignment was at St. Teresa Church in Buffalo, then was assigned to the Church in Angelica. In 1916 he was appointed Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese by Bishop Dougherty. He was a man of high ideals and was well known throughout the Diocese.
