Mr. Shifflett was born June 30, 1893, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late John and Jennie Bruce Shifflett.
He was a retired farmer, and a member of St. Stephen's Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
His wife, the former Mamie Sellers, survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ruby McKechnie of Waynesboro; and Hazel Crider, of Elkton; two sons, Edward T. Shifflett, of Baltimore; and Norris V. Shifflett, of Elkton; three sisters, Carrie Shaw and Viola Stickel, both of Richmond; and Reba Hague, of Baltimore; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Stephen's Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, by the Rev. Lewis Reidenbach. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, in McGaheysville.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the Shifflett home.
In lieu of flowers, the family said contributions may be made to the Elkton Emergency Squad.
