Mother of Curtis Elmore Harris of Harriman, Roane, TN., George Benjamin Harris (KY), Nora Harris (KY), David Freelove Harris (daughter), John Columbus Harris (Lum), Emma Zora Harris, and Cleta Elizabeth Harris. Later was wife of Jasper C. Casteel of GA. Buried in unmarked grave in Walnut Hill area of Harriman, Roane, Tennessee in overgrown cemetery where few others are buried. Although death certificate states Harriman cemetery, my father who paid for the burial stated he could not afford to bury her in Harriman cemetery and had to bury her in a small cemetery where a few others were buried, along Highway 27.

Ruth Harris Casteel, beloved daughter of the late Ben and Riddy Knox Harris, born March 29, 1870 and answered the call of the death angel suddenly September 12, 1931 following an automobile accident. She was married to Harden Eldridge (not valid-they were never married and he was not the father of all her children) and to this union ten children were born, six of whom have preceded her in death. She was married to J. C. Casteel in 1914 (See Below). Both companions have preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. David Freelove Nelson, Harriman, Mrs. Emma Zora Casteel, Autreysville, GA., and Mrs. Cleta McNabb, Glen Alice, and one son, Curtis E. Harris, Harriman, several brothers and sisters besides a host of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. She had been a member of the Holiness Church at Crab Orchard for over sixteen years. She was a faithful Christian and a good mother. Services were at the home of her son, Curtis E. Harris, Tennessee St., this city, Monday, September 14, 1931 at 2:30pm with Rev. Chaney, officiating. Interment at City Cemetery.
