The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from Centenary Methodist church, the Rev. R.L. Jamieson officiating. Many friends from out of town attended the last rites. The profusion of flowers was an impressive tribute from those who knew her. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs Giese was born in Germany Oct. 25 1855. She came to America at the age of 12 years settling at Watertown, this state. In 1875 she was married to Gustav Giese. They came to Menomonie to make their home and she had resided here since that time. Mr Giese died in May, 1913. She leaves to mourn her loss five daughters and two sons: Mrs Henry Webert, New Richmond; Miss Alvina Giese, Mrs M.A. Mattison, Mrs Lydia Curl, Arthur O.Giese, Menomonie, Leo Giese, Eau Claire, Mrs C.W. Thomas, Minneapolis. Other survivors are a brother, Henry Luttman, Watertown, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and other relatives.
Mrs Giese was well known to other older residents of Menomonie, among whom she had lived for so many years. During her more active years she was a devoted church worker. Her quiet, gentle manner endeared her to many. She always had a kindly greeting. Up to her last illness she retained a marked interest in the happenings of the community that had been her home for more than 60 years.
