Ella Grace Bigelow Abel Barnard was born July 1877 to Sarah (1853-1925 and William E. Bigelow (1853-19..) in Landis, Cumberland Co, New Jersey.
She was married Feb 21, 1896 in Vineland, Cumberland Co, New Jersey to Harry McCormick Abel.
This marriage produced 7 children, 4 of whom grew to adulthood. In census of 1900 she was living in Atlantic Co, New Jersey. From about 1908 to 1912 she lived with her husband Harry M. Abel in Los Angeles California where two
of her children were born. Information about this family has been obtained from Census records.
She ahd a child in California with Harry Abel 1913. In the census of 1920 she was living in Philadelphia with James Barnard. We assume she was divorced from Harry M. Abel and was married to James Barnard about 1918. She lived with James Barnard and her 4 children on Woodland Ave in Philadelphia where she and James Barnard operated a boarding house. She worked as a seamstress and raised her grandson,
Clarence Lynn Abel, whose parents had left him with her.
She was living in Magnolia, New Jersey, when she died 18 April 1953. She is buried at Siloam Cemetery in Cumberland Co, New Jersey.
