Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Leesburg native passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, Easter, April 8, 2007, following a long, productive and happy life. In her final hours, Miriam was with her family. Born in Wheeler County, Georgia on July 3, 1922. Miriam was enrolled in the First Baptist Church Cradle Roll at age one where she remained an extremely active member throughout her life. Two of her most treasured responsibilities in the church were Associate Director of the Pregnancy Care Center and greeting for more than a decade. In addition to her strong church life she spent twenty-four years working in the Leesburg medical community employed by three physician groups, and she also was deeply involved in her community. Two important positions she held were President of the Leesburg Women's Club and Board, Membership on the City Board of Recreation. Miriam is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Jimmy Walker; her children, Beth Rohrer, Karen Walker, James Walker and Joe Walker, along with eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. The family will host those wishing to pay their respects during visitation hours on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from 4-7 P.M. at Beyers Funeral Home, 1123 West Main Street, Leesburg. Memorial Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Leesburg, followed by Interment at the Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a contribution to the First Baptist Church of Leesburg in memory of Miriam. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg.
