Sophia Elizabeth Spencer was born to Mr. and Mrs. John R. Spencer. She was born and raised near Level, Maryland. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air.
She married Charles Wesley Proctor. They had eleven children; two survived her: Mrs. George A. Simon (of Bel Air, Maryland) and Mr. J. Armfield Proctor (of Berkley Springs, West Virginia). She died on October 3, 1949, aged 95, at her home on Gordon Street, Bel Air, Maryland. She was buried in Rock Spring Cemetery.
