Returned Here for Burial
Mrs. Nina Schwarzenbach, wife of Albert Schwarzenbach, passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. W.O. Winterberg and family, three miles west of Hanford, California, Wednesday, March 29th, at the advanced age of 82 years. She had been gravely ill for several months and her death was not unexpected. The body was accompanied by the aged husband and daughter to Missouri, which place had been their home for many years, arriving at Lamar on Sunnyland, Saturday noon. They were met by E. Ray Caldwell, undertaker, and the body was taken to the home of Walter Schwarzenbach and family, near Dudenville. Funeral services were held at New Bethel church, northwest of Lockwood, Sunday afternoon, in the midst of relatives and a great many friends who had known the deceased and her family for many years. Burial was at New Bethel cemetery under direction of Mr. Caldwell.
The deceased was born in Switzerland but had been a resident of the United States for over half a century. She and Mr. Schwarzenbach resided for many years near Lockwood, where they owned and operated a farm. When advanced age and the infirmities which go with it, came upon them they were no longer able to carry on, they disposed of their personal property here and moved to California where their two daughters were living. The young women were graduate nurses and gave their aged parents every consideration and every kindness. Miss Martha, one of the daughters, passed away in January 1930, and her body was returned here for burial where the aged mother now sleeps. The parents again returned to California and have since made their home with the remaining daughter, Mrs. Winterberg, known familiarly to many friends in Lockwood and community as Bertha.
Mrs. Schwarzenbach has been in ill health for many months and though everything possible was done for her she rapidly grew worse and on March 29th her spirit took its flight to God who gave it.
The deceased is survived by the aged husband and four children, who are Albert Schwarzenbach, the husband; one daughter Mrs. Wintenberg of Hanford, Calif.; three sons Werner Schwarzenbach of Oroville, Calif.; Ruben and Walter Schwarzenbach of near Lockwood.
