Memorial Services for Roy D. (Shine) Hemphill, 91, of Lubbock will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Baptist Church. Visitation will be this evening from 3 to 5 p.m. at Franklin Bartley Funeral Home. He died Thursday October 21, 2010.
Shine was born on June 11, 1919 in Webster County, Miss. to Horace Roy and Marion Etoille Hemphill. He served in the U.S. Army durning WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Vieve; daughters, Jenita McGee, Marion Farley and husband Larry, Susan Hight and husband Wayne; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gwen Steed; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
