— SHAMOKIN DAM — Anna Eleanor (Reeder) Heimbach, 91, of 108 W. 11th Ave., and recently a resident of Grayson View, Selinsgrove, entered into eternal rest at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, Anna was lovingly cared for by the Grayson View staff and SUN Hospice.

She was born June 11, 1919, in Augustaville, the daughter of the late Fred and Rosie (Heckert) Reeder. On June 14, 1942, she married Norman L. Heimbach, of Allentown, who preceded her in death on May 23, 1982.

She was a 1936 graduate of Sunbury High School. In 1940, Anna graduated from Susquehanna University with degrees in music education and English.

In her distinguished career as a public school music educator, Anna taught in the Lewistown, Mifflinburg and Selinsgrove area school districts.

Anna's career as a church musician began in Cedar Union Church, Cetronia, in 1942 and continued throughout her life in the Selinsgrove community at large, including her residence at Grayson View. With a strong ecumenical spirit, she was a dynamic witness to her faith through her gift of music.

Throughout her life, Anna was a member of and willingly served in many professional, religious, educational and musical organizations. Those groups included Church Women United, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, an honorary organization for women educators, and Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music fraternity for women. Anna was a 73-year member of Sigma Alpha Iota, having been initiated into the Susquehanna University Sigma Omega Chapter in 1937.

Besides planting a garden of love throughout her life, Anna was a gifted backyard gardener whose yard was filled with beautiful blooming flowers and plants. She particularly enjoyed her membership in the Tulpehocken Garden Club.

Anna lived her faith through her devotion to her family and friends. She was selfless in her care for others.
