James Andrew Gambrell, 77, died Wednesday at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville following a long illness. He was a retired employee of Cookeville Planing Mills and was a resident of Carolina Avenue.
Funeral services were held today at 10:30 a.m. at Whitson Funeral Home with Rev J G Lowery officiating. Burial was in Crest Lawn cemetery.
Gambrell, a native of Putnam county, was the son of Millard F & Susan Lafever Gambrell and was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Jean E Gambrell; 4 sons, William P, Miamisburg, Ohio; Mack Lewis and James Estel of Dayton, Ohio; and Millard Cordell Gambrell; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ethel Hartman, Long Beach, Ca; Mrs. Opal Jewell Carr, Warren, Mi; sister Mrs. Delma Herron, Baxter
