"Formerly a Junior" since his grandfather was Robert Cole. Eldest son of
Matthew Cole and Haney Turner Nall. Picture is on page 704 in Coweta Co.
Chronicles. Attended private schools of Newnan, Ga. University of Georgia
Class of 1872 and member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Returned to Newnan after
school and went into the manufacturing business of R.D. Cole in 1872. Served in
many capacities until elected President in 1912 which he held til after 1925.
One of the foremost manufacturers of iron and steel products in the southeast.
Very active in civic, political, and industrial affairs. Democrat. State
Senator in 1925. Central Baptist Church member and on Board of Deacons. Mason,
Shriner, and Rotarian. Active on Chamber of Commerce. Newnan Country Club
President. Original member of the Board of Education. VP of Newnan Cotton
Mills, VP of the Manufacturers National Bank, VP of Farmers Warehouse, Director
of Coweta Cotton Oil Co., Director of Atlanta Lowry National Bank, VP of Arnco
Mills. 1st Sgt, in State Troops in Confederacy.
