YARBROUGH > Mrs. Jeanne Dillard Yarbrough, age 79, of Americus, GA, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, died Thursday morning, October 21, 2010 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Watson-Giddens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Peter Vermeulen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Arlington Park Cemetery with Rev. Larry Shields officiating. A visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00PM Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Arlington Park Funeral Home in Jacksonville, FL.

Mrs. Yarbrough was born March 13, 1931 and was the daughter of Joseph Emmett Dillard and Nettie Eunice Bryan Dillard. She was raised and educated in Schley County, GA.

Mrs. Yarbrough attended Massey Business School in Jacksonville, FL where later she owned and operated Arlington Appliance Company. Mrs. Yarbrough was an active member of the Arlington United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, FL where she was a member of the Super Senior Church Choir and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was also involved with many charities, including a soup kitchen. Mrs. Yarbrough was also a member of an investment club, the Southside Woman's Club, and active in political parties. She traveled extensively with her husband, spending many summers in Maggie Valley, NC.

Survivors include two brothers, Vernon Dillard and wife Jacquelyn of Ellaville and Harold Dillard and wife Geraldine of Ellaville. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Yarbrough was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Russell Yarbrough, former Fire Chief of Duval County; one brother, Marcus Dillard; four sisters, Mamie Grant, Thelma Tidd Ivey, Mavis Green, and Estelle Bridges.
