Funeral services for Robert Abernathy, of 1709 Morris street, who was injured at his work in Pittsburgh, and who died in the West Penn hospital in that city Thursday morning, will be conducted at the Hoover Heights Tabernacle Sunday afternoon at three o'clock with Rev. F.R. Schillinger in charge. Interment will be in the Savannah cemetery.
Mr. Abernathy was born in Mercer county November 15, 1879, son of David and Jane Abernathy. He resided in New Castle for 26 years and was a fireman by occupation. He had been married for 38 years to Rachel Reither.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rachel Reither Abernathy; three children, Mrs. Geraldine Frisbee, of New Castle; Thomas Abernathy, of Clairton, and Pfc. Robert E. Abernathy, of Keesler Field, Miss. He leaves the follwoing brothers and sisters: James Abernathy, of Masury, O.; Mrs. Charles Miller, of Sharon; Mrs. Sarah Miller, of Sharon; Mrs. Belle Adams of Grove City, and five grandchildren, Pfc. David E. Abernathy, of Brooks General hospital, Fort Sam Houston, Tex.; Thompson Edward Abernathy, of Clairton, Pa.; Betty Louella, Mary Rachel and Donald Paul Frisbee, of New Castle.
A son, David Leroy Abernathy, preceded him in death seven years ago.
The body was at the Ritchie funeral home, and has been taken to the residence.
