Donald Barber
JUNCTION CITY - The funeral will be held Jan. 16 for Donald Earl Barber, of Junction City, who died of age-related causes. He was 86.
Barber was born Oct. 11, 1911, in Hetland, S.D., to George and Nina Tucker Barker. He married Eleanor Mae Coulson in De Smet, S.D. on March 25, 1939. She died Dec. 3, 1992.
He played semipro baseball when he was in his 20s. He had lived in this area since 1943. He worked as a mechanic for Clark Trucking and as a millwright for Hult Plywood Co. in Junction City. He retired in 1973.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, tending cattle, listening to a police scanner, playing the harmonic and watching baseball and football. He was a member fo the Junction City Volunteer Fire Department and the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eugene branch.
Survivors include two sons, Charles of Eugene, and Dorance of Lebanon; two daughters, LuAnn Williams of Salem, and LuVada Barber of Eugene; a brother, Darrel of Yuba City, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lane Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Friday's service will be at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the RLDS Church Outreach Fund.
