MANLIUS Margaret S. Wells, 96, of Pleasant Street, formerly of Durhamville, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

She was born on Oct. 9, 1920, in Oneida, a daughter of Edgar J. and Beatrice Eastman Sweatman. She attended Ilion schools. Margaret was a lifelong resident of the Oneida area.

On Jan. 14, 1982, Margaret was united in marriage to Paul F. Wells in Durhamville. Mr. Wells passed away in January 1992. She had previously been married to Britton Thurston and George W. Perry.

Margaret was an inspector of silverware for Oneida Limited for ten years, retiring in 1982. She later worked as a home health aide caring for the elderly until 2006.

She was a former member of the C.A.C. and the Oneida Limited Retirement Club. Margaret was also a former member of the Durhamville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She attended the Baptist Church for many years.

Surviving are three daughters, Lois Cary, of Oneida, Carol Whitty, of Sherrill, and Marilyn Perry, of Bentonville, Ark.; three sons, George Perry, of West Eaton, John (Shirley Lenio) Perry, of Syracuse, and Lewis Perry, of Butler, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Parker; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Perry; a great-grandson, Michael Janes; two sisters, LaVerna and Zada; and three brothers, Russell, Lewis, and William.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., where the Rev. William Wilcox will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Francis Cemetery, Durhamville. Family and friends are invited and may call on Monday prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.
