Justinian Lansdowne Hilborn was born September 23, 1847 to Mordecai and Rachael Minard Hilborn in Uxbridge, Ontario; Canada. On June 30, 1866 he married Christiana Groat Billings at Speaker Township; Sanilac County; Michigan. J.L. farmed for a living in Speaker Township. He fathered six children: Mary Viola (1867); Sarah Marilla (1869); Alveretta Geneva (1871); Ella Lenora (1874); Laura Effa (1876); and William Henry (1880). He was a charter member of the Speaker Baptist Church in Speaker Township. Justinian died at the home of his daughter, Effa Stong Parkin, in Melvin on December 21, 1921. He is buried at Fairview Cemetery in Melvin.
