Grudzinski Services At Grand Island
Leonard J. Grudzinski, Sr., 76, of Phillips died January 13, 1992 at St. Francis Medical Center after a long illness.
Services were Friday, January 18, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.
His survivors include his wife; three sons, Stanley of St. Libory, Leonard Jr. of Grand Island and Timothy of Ord; three daughters, Susan (Mrs. Manuel) Careon of Grand Island, Elizabeth Edwards of Phillips and LeAnn (Mrs. Jeffrey) Olsen of Kearney; one sister, Casmiera (Mrs. Frank) Kosmicki; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Grudzinski was born September 27, 1915, north of Ashton to Maximilian and Wladyslawa (Moraczewski) Grudzinski. After serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps he worked for farmers in the Sherman County area. He married Agnes Stenka November 30, 1940, in Loup City. The couple moved to Grand Island in 1953 where he worked as a farmer in Hall, Merrick and Hamilton counties. They moved to Phillips in 1958 and he worked as a carpenter and at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant, retiring in 1973. He was a well-known musician with his own band and several polka bands in the area. A son, three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
