RESPECTED PIONEER CITIZEN PASSES

Mrs. Jennie Repass Brown, 83, beloved and respected citizen and a native of Tazewell County, died in a local hospital Saturday following a long illness. She was the widow of the late George M. Brown, who passed away in 1943.
Mrs. Brown was born at Paintlick, in Tazewell County, the daughter of Deskins and Cosby Green. She was first married to James Albert Repass and to them were born seven sons. Mr. Repass died many years ago.
After her marriage to Mr. Brown, they adopted a son, Eldridge H. Brown.
Mrs. Brown was a lady of fine Christian character and a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by all eight of her sons: Dr. James C. Repass of Lumberport, W. Va., Dr. Fred G. Repass of Roanoke, Frank Repass of Arlington, Dr. T. A. Repass and William D. Repass of Marion, John G. and Robert Repass and Eldridge Brown of Richlands. Twelve grand children and three great-grand children survive and she has one sister, Mrs. Will Witt of Steelesburg.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in Layman's Chapel in the neighborhood in which she lived. Rev. H. A. Phillips of Narrows, former Methodist pastor here, Rev. Jack Johnson of the Christian Church and Rev. Nelson Barker of the Baptist Church were the officiating ministers. Burial was in Hankins cemetery. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home was in charge.
Pallbearers were S. R. Barnes, Graham Dye, Ed McGlothlin, Don Griffith, C. S. Steele, George Harshbarger and Mont Fletcher. Flower bearers were the ladies of her Sunday School class and of Layman's Chapel.
