Harold Junior Mechem, 80, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at his home.

Born Nov. 13, 1925, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Harold Ashton and Katherine Nancy Adams Mechem.

He attended Western High School, Washington, D.C.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a cartographer with the U.S. Defense Mapping Agency, Carderock, Md.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60 and Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019, Berkeley Springs.

He was a Protestant.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Quible Mechem of Annandale, Va.; two sons, Bruce J. Mechem of Warrenton, Va., and Bradley D. Mechem of Fredericksburg, Va.; two grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Roxie F. McDonald, and one brother, Willard W. Stukey.

Services and burial will be private at Quantico (Va.) National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
