Daughter of John and Mira (Holden) Norris Jr., married Edgar Alonzo Adams Oct 30, 1861, Rumney NH. He had been born in Plymouth and was a Civil War soldier Company A, 6th New Hampshire Infantry.

They had children: William Fred, Edgar V., Flora May, Lillian/Lilla May/Maud, Myra/Mira Holden, and Almon Edgar.

In 1880 they resided in Plymouth where Edgar was working in the tannery. Etta was 39 and Edgar age 40. Children in the household at that time were William 15, Flora 14, Lilly 8, Myra 7 and Almon infant.

Her husband died 1885. Marietta died age 77 at the Massachusetts Homeopathic Hospital, of Plymouth NH. Informant on death was her son William F. Adams.

The funeral of Mrs Marietta Norris Adams was held at All Saints Church, Brookline, Massachusetts last Sunday afternoon. The body was brought here for interment on Monday. Mrs. Adams was born in Groton, the daughter of John and Mira (Holden) Norris and was 77 years of age. She married in Rumney in 1862, to Edgar A. Adams of Co. A, of the 6th N.H. Volunteer Infantry. In 1874 the family moves to Plymouth where Mr. Adams died in 1888.

During the past few years Mrs. Adams had made her home with her sons and daughters, William Fred Allen and Mrs Charles Cl Wright of Plymouth, Mrs. Harrie A. Haskell of Rangeley, Maine, Mrs. F.L.V. Spaulding of Manchester, and Almon E. Adams of Minneapolis, Minn. Mrs. Adams spent her last winter at Tampa, Fla. and the summer at Magnolia, Mass. And four weeks ago went to Jamaica Plain, Mass. to visit the widow of her brother. Here she was taken seriously ill with heart trouble two weeks ago, and the members of her family were summoned. The hand of death could not be stayed by medical skill and death resulted early Saturday morning at the Massachusetts Homeopathic Hospital where she was taken the previous Tuesday. She was of a kind and loving disposition and made many friends wherever she was. She had been a member of the Plymouth Methodist Episcopal Church for many years.

The body was laid to rest at Trinity Churchyard where commitment services were conducted by Rev. Cyrus W. Richardson, D.D. The Plymouth Record, November 2, 1918.
