Mr. Adolphus E. "Teddy" Gibson, 31, of 3202-B Flint Hill Road, Adamstown, died Monday, May 13, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 15, 1954, in Frederick County, he was a son of William and Gloria V. (Weedon) Gibson, Adamstown.
Mr. Gibson was of the Methodist faith. He graduated from Frederick High School, Class of 1972, where he played varsity football, and received the 1972 Unsung Hero Award in recognition of his football talent. He was also a champion softball player, having played on the St. Paul AME and Fort Detrick softball teams.
Besides his parents, Mr. Gibson is survived by two brothers, Merhl W. Gibson and William T. Gibson, both of Frederick; one sister, and brother-in-law, Patricia A. and Kenyon R. Parker Jr., both of Fort Washington; maternal grandfather, Fulton T. Weedon, Flint Hill; one niece, Tomika L. Gibson, Dickerson; two nephews, Marco T. Gibson, Parks Mill, and Merhl D. Gibson, Dickerson; two sisters-in-law, Joan M. Gibson, Dickerson, and Anna M. Gibson, Parks Mill; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Friends may call from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. J. Sherman Mason will officiate. Interment will be in Hopehill United Methodist Cemetery.
