William Wesley Truax died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Alta Hill, in the town of Mt Pleasant on Tuesday, March 26, 1901, aged 79 years, 5 months, 22 days. Mr Truax was born in Nelson Co, KY in 1821. The following year his parents removed to Indiana and five years later to Vermillion Co, IL. In 1844 he came to Green County and settled on the farm upon which his son Eugene now lives. He was married May 26, 1845 to Sarah Jane Whitesett, who died July 25, 1848. April 10, 1851, he was again married to Elizabeth Sires who passed away on Aug 11, 1853. His third wife was Emily Whitesett, to whom he was married Nov, 7, 1857 and who died Dec 27, 1880. Mr Truax had a stroke of paralysis abut four years ago and never fully recovered from it. A last stroke occurred last Thursday, which caused his death. He is survived by six children, one by each of his first wives and four by the last, five children having preceded him to the better land. Funeral services are being held at his late home today, conducted by Rev C D Mayhew, and the remains will be interred in the Truax cemetery. (early settler of the township)
