He graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and from Iowa State with a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering. While in college he was active in Christ's Ambassadors and Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship and was a member of the Chemical Engineering Society.
He served as Staff Sergeant in the Army from 1944-1946 and received an Honorable Discharge. He was employed by DuPont and General Electric Knolls Atomic Laboratory from which he retired after a successful career. He received many commendations and awards for his work during his career.
On April 19, 1953, he married the love of his life, Jenny Saglimbeni. Together they had two daughters. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His kindness and love to his family and others will always be remembered.
He served as 1st Lt. in the Civil Air Patrol, was President of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship and field representative for Eastern New York. Most important he loved the Lord and accepted Jesus as his Savior at a young age and lived his life serving as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, treasurer, and in men's ministry. He wanted all to know his love for Jesus and Jesus' love for them.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Leonard, Joseph, and Sam; and one sister, Santa.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jenny; his daughter, Caroline (Terry) Deffenbaugh and daughter Susan Brengle; and also survived by four grandchildren, Heather (Ramsey) Buell, David (Kelly) Deffenbaugh, Amanda (David) Blakeney and Melissa Brengle; and five great-grandchildren, Dominic Blakeney, Ramsey Buell, Anthony Hutchens, Isabella Buell and Matthew Deffenbaugh.
He is also survived by a brother, Charles (Lois) Abate; a sister, Mary Corvene; along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 11 a.m., in Life 360 Church, ParkCrest campus. Internment will follow the funeral in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery
