THOMAS NORQUAY FOUND DEAD IN CABIN IN LONE STAR MINING DISTRICT
Thomas Norquay, aged 77 years was found dead in a cabin at his mining claim in the Long Star district nine miles north of Safford about noon Thursday, by his mining partner, Jack Folks, who went to the claims that morning to see Mr. Norquay.
From all indications the man was preparing for bed, Wednesday night when stricken with a heart attack. County officials were notified by Mr. Folks, who after an investigation, decided an inquest would not be necessary.
The body was removed to the Rawson Mortuary and funeral services were held at the First Methodist church Friday afternoon.
Rev. Vickrey Dougherty officiated at the services and at the burial rites at the grave in Union cemetery.
The deceased was a native of Winnepeg, Manitobia, Canada. He was of Scotch-Canadian ancestry, his family being prominent in Canadian political life.
He was naturalized a citizen of the United States in 1905 and had been a resident of Safford since 1925, coming here from Clifton.
Mr. Norquay had prepared himself for the medical profession, but on coming to this country became interested in other pursuits. He is survived by a sister in Canada.
