Richard A. Lenoir, 55, of Belcourt, ND, died on Sunday, September 28, 1997, in the Belcourt Medical Center.

Richard Ambrose Lenoir was born on Monday, January 4, 1942 at the Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, ND, the 5th child of 12 children of Bernard Joseph "Barney" and Mary Emma "Mae" (DeLong) Lenoir. He was raised in the Belcourt area until 1954 when the family relocated to Marty, SD. He attended school in Belcourt and then at Marty and graduated from St. Paul's High School in Marty in 1960. He continued his education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.

Dick was employed for 33 years as a specialized iron worker and the last two years as a private consultant for iron door manufacturers. He had recently completed two extended consulting jobs in Sicily.

Dick was united in marriage to Julia Elizabeth "Judy" Hudson in 1963 in SD. To this union two children were born. They later divorced.

Dick was engaged to Jeanie Jollie of Belcourt at the time of his death.

He is survived by his son, Paul Lenoir of Chino Hills, CA; daughter, Tara Long of Las Vegas, NV; 2 grandchildren; fiancee, Jeanie Jollie of Belcourt, ND; parents, Barney and Mae Lenoir of Baldwin Park, CA; three brothers: Wally Lenoir of Covina, CA, Steve Lenoir of Garden Grove, CA and Jim Lenoir of Las Vegas, NV; six sisters: Eileen Millsaps of Statesville, NC, Donna Marciano of Granada Hills, CA, Patricia Lenoir of Pasadena, CA, Theresa Warren of Santa Clarita, CA, Helen Sweeney of Lakewood, CO, and Dorie Navin of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Lenoir in 1941; a sister, Bernice Lenoir in 1978; and grandparents, Louis and Mary Lenoir and Lee and Harriet DeLong.

Scriptural wake and rosary services were held on Thursday, October 2, 1997 at St. Ann's Catholic Church.

Funeral services were held at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND on Friday, October 3, 1997 with The Rev. Wilfred Lambertz, The Rev. Dale Craig, and Deacon Francis Davis officiating. Interment followed at St. Ann's Cemetery in Belcourt, ND.

Casket bearers were Steve Lenoir, Chance Wilkie, Bill Vote, Rodney Sweeney, Leonard Keplin and Clark Laducer. Honorary casket bearers were, Wally, Steve and Jim Lenoir, Dave Jollie, LeRoy Sweeney, David Millsaps, Tom Marciano, Dave Warren, Kenny Lenoir, Eugene Delonais, Gene Laducer, Bob Cartwright, all nephews, friends, and relatives.
