Winkey loved the outdoors. He spent his time camping, fishing, gardening, and arrowhead hunting. He loved to dance and loved being around people. Being a jack of all trades, he was a heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and made his own jewelry.

He is survived by his children, James "Douglas" Amidon and wife Renee, Rodney "Bubba" Amidon and wife Rhonda, Cody Shane Amidon, Barbara Jowers and husband Raymond, Jessica Fritz and husband Tom, Max, Steve Fail, and Will Becker; mother, Dorothy Amidon; step-children, Francis Owens, Johnathan Daniels; brothers and sisters, Judy Ray and husband Doug, Ronnie Amidon and wife Sharon, Kenny Amidon and wife Renee, Randy Amidon and wife Vickie, Donna Kelley and husband Wayland, 18 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at Bluffton Cemetery with Reverend Rodney McGee officiating.
