Hazel Moore, 100, Ringgold, died Monday, October 25, 2010. She was born January 8, 1910 and was the oldest daughter of the late Filmore and Dora Pharr.
Mrs. Moore was a native of the Chattanooga area and was preceded in death by brothers Earl, Elmer, Herman and Ed Pharr and sister Nell Ward.; and husbands Dennis Wolf who died in 1933 and Raymond Moore who died in 1983.
She was a spontaneous person who could pack her bags in a moment to travel where the moment dictated. She had visited the Holy Land on two occasions, which was a highlight of her life. Hazel also visited Germany, France, The Netherlands and Australia in addition to setting foot in just about every state in the USA.
In her early days, she worked in the Spread Factories of Chattanooga and later moving to California where she worked in the High Tech electronics industry. She made many friends in the California many of which she maintained a close relationship. Hazel read her Bible daily and lived her life by the word of The Lord.
Surviving her are brothers, Leonard and Connie Pharr; sisters, Lottie Potter and Betty Wilson. Hazel had 4 children, all surviving, Doris Connally of Elk Grove, California, Johnnie Louise Burgess of Antioch, California, Margie Nabozny of Eagle Point, Oregon and Raymond Moore of Gold Hill, Oregon; seven grandchildren and several great and great-great grand children.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Pharr officiating.
Interment will be Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park following the chapel services.
The family wishes to thank many people for the kind and passionate care given our Mother in her final days. A special thanks to the Chattanooga Hospice, the staff of the NHC Nursing home in Rossville, Georgia and to brother Connie Pharr and his wife Velma for their ever loving care and compassion. Visitation and viewing will be between 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
