Joseph Donald Pohl, 62, of Wauchula, died on Monday, July 5, 2010, at his home.

Born on November 1, 1947, at San Antonio, Texas, he came to Wauchula in 1970. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1969 and received the Good Conduct Medal. He served in the Naval Hospital in Guam during the Vietnam War. Durning his tenure, the hospital received a Presidential Unit Citation. He was warehouse supervisor at C.F. Industries for 31 years, retiring in June 2009. He entered the Hardee County EMS program as a charter member and was involved for five years. He was a member of First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald C. and Dorothy L. Pohl.

Survivors include two sons, Brian David Pohl and wife Tammy, and Jason Donald Pohl, all of Wauchula; and two grandchildren, Taylor Pohl, and Cheyenne Pohl.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 10, at 4:30 p.m. at First Christian Church with the Rev. Darin Canary and Vince Altman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1149, Wauchula, Florida 33873
