Cole is that he and his brothers Dr. Claude Lynn Cole and Dr. Carl Vincent Cole were adopted by their father's brother, Dr. Alvinza Baxter Cole and his wife Effie, and raised in Fergus Falls with them. They are listed on Herbert's death certificate as his parents. However, Dr. Herbert P. Cole's birth parents are his father Dr. O. C. (Ogillis or Ogillius or Orgellus) Cole, Findagrave # 27807462, and wife Cora Adell Sprague Cole Coleman (no Findagrave found). While Cora was around when the children were young, she remarried and later moved to Minneapolis with her 2nd husband Charles A. Coleman. Her 3 sons with Dr. O. C. Cole remained in Fergus Falls with their uncle and aunt. Interestingly, when Dr. Herbert P. Cole married in New York, he named his birth parents on his marriage record, not his adoptive parents:
