Uriah Rominger was the fourth of nine known children of Christian Ludwig Rominger (went by Lewis) (1806-1885) and Elizabeth Hyre Rominger (1807-1896), who married 05 May 1827 at Davidson County, North Carolina. The parents left North Carolina in 1829, settling at Bartholomew County, Indiana.
Uriah moved with his parents family from Bartholomew County, Indiana to Davis County, Iowa between 1844 and 1848. He married Sarah Ellin (seems to have been called Sarah, Susan or Ellen at different times in her life) Millsaps (1835-1919) on 12 Jan 1858 at Davis County, Iowa. Sarah was also born at Bartholomew County, Indiana. After they married Uriah and Sarah spent the remainder of their lives in Davis County, Iowa. Uriah and Sarah were the parents of five known children, three girls and two boys. All five reached maturity. Four of the five children (all but Ellsworth) moved to Los Angeles County, California after marrying. The children were:
1. Joanna Rominger Senseney (1858-1940)
2. Ellsworth Rominger (1862-1930)
3. Olive K. Rominger Spaulding (1868-1953)
4. Alma Rominger Monkman (1870-1952)
5. Joseph Ambrose Rominger (1871-1928)
