Sylvia E. Blashka, 83, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 2, 2004, at Shady Lane surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Stradal Lakatos. Sylvia was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1939. On Nov. 12, 1949, she married Theodore C. Blashka at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death April 4, 1994. She was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and the Senior Center of Manitowoc.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law; a daughter and son-in-law; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Melvin and Gerry Lakatos, Manitowoc, and Alice Lakatos, Manitowoc; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Edith Reidy, West Allis, and Donna and LeRoy Zipperer, Whitelaw; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Ollendorf; one brother, Joseph Lakatos; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Edward Blashka, Joseph Blashka, Daniel Reidy, Alex Wicihowski, Bernice Blashka, George and Josephine Novak and Clarence and Lucille Blashka.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Deacon Bob Beehner. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
