Richard Marion Hargan, 82 longtime area farmer died Sunday, June 10, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck after a lengthy illness. Mr. Hargan was born December 14, 1890, at Stithton, Kentucky, the 13th child of Philip and Ellen (Ressor) Hargan. The elder Mr. Hargan was a veteran of the Civil War with the Union Army. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. yesterday (Thursday) at the Amity United Presbyterian church south of Reinbeck. Burial was in the Buckingham cemetery at Traer with French Funeral home of Reinbeck in charge of arrangements. Surviving are his widow, Effye; and two daughters, Mrs. Marion Smith of Bridge View, Illinois, and Mrs. Gloria Rickert of Reinbeck; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, John Richard, his parents, 12 brothers and sisters.
