Bobbie G. Herring, 81, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at Seton NW Hospital, in Austin. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow 2 p.m. at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery in Waco. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave., Austin.

Bobbie Gwendolyn was born in Groesbeck, Texas, and had been a resident of Austin since 1974. She was a Licensed Peace Officer and retired from Austin Community College in 1995. She loved to laugh and was a people person, never meeting someone as a stranger, but as a friend to be. She never failed to respond to a request for help and was always looking out for the other person. She was a devoted care-giver to both her husband and mother during their times of need and in her work was known to be someone that could be counted on in time of crisis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross B. Herring; her mother, Vera D. Miller; and her brother, Jack Stricklin.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Herring and her partner in life, Fran Neely; son, James Herring; grandchildren, Heath Herring, Holland Werry and Hunter Herring; great-grandchildren, Katlyn Herring, Jasper Werry, Jackson Werry and Lorelei Werry; brother, Charles Stricklin and wife, Artie; nieces, Maria Balboa, Marlene Dorn and Sharon Stricklin; and nephews, Mark Stricklin, Rick Stricklin, Ron Stricklin and Scott Stricklin.
