Faith Elizabeth Davis died Jan. 18th, 2010. She was 92 years old. She spent her last days at Hospice Care Center of Louisville, Colo.

She was born March 28, 1917 in Faith, South Dakota. Her parents were Rev. Robert Elton Davis and Daisy Gertrude [Worley] Davis. Her parents were in South Dakota doing missionary work. Their work was shown by "Majic Lantern" in New York as "Missionary Life in South Dakota".

When her Mother became too ill to raise her children, they went to live with different relatives. Faith, Mary, and Claude went to live with their Aunt and Uncle, Esther and Otto Pohlman, on their farm northeast of Akron, Colo.

Faith received her first 8 grades of education in a one room country schoolhouse, the North Buena Vista School. After graduation from 8th grade, she and Mary went to live in Akron to receive their high school education.

When in her early teens, Faith accepted Christ as her Savior during the revival meetings held at North Buena Vista schoolhouse.

After graduating from high school, Faith stayed on the farm with her Aunt and Uncle helping with the farm work for several years. She enjoyed working with the farm animals and also raising a garden. She attended Sunday School in the counry schoolhouse during these years.

During the depression many farmers sold their farms and moved to other states. Since there were not enough people left who were interested in keeping the Sunday School open, Faith and Aunt Esther started attending another Sunday School in another country schoolhouse farther away, the Union Center Schoolhouse.

The Salvation Army Officers who were stationed in Sterling, Colo. were conducting worship services at this schoolhouse. They would arrive right after Sunday School classes were over. That is how Faith got acquainted with the Salvation Army. They would pass out their paper, the "War Cry". She felt the call of God to join the Salvation Army and get involved in their work. She was enrolled as a soldier in the Sterling Corps and later went to the Salvation Army Officers Training School in San Francisco in the Valiant Session of 1942-1943. Her position took her to Boise, Idaho; El Paso, Texas: Portland, Oregon; Spokane, Washington and to the Childrens Day Care in Los Angeles, California.

She retired in 1979 and went to live in Akron, Colo. to live with her sister, Mary Peek. In 1997 they moved to Broomfield, Colo. They made their home at Broomfield Silvercrest, a senior residence.

Faith was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Stanley and Claude, one sister, Mary Peek and her Uncle and Aunt, Otto and Esther Pohlman.

Faith is survived by her sister, Stella Pennington of Twin Falls, Idaho, and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service was held Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Akron.Interment followed at Akron Cemetery .Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the First Presbyterian Church of Akron.Brenner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
