Howe Mortuary & Crematory
Dana Balle, 59, of Longmont, died April 27, 2015 at his home. He was born in Ely, Nevada to Dee and Ruby (Casto) Balle. His family moved to Longmont, where Dana grew up and attended school. On June 12, 1976 he married Lorraine Terry in Longmont.
Dana went on to become a Master Chef with Hilton Harvest House and then the Ramada Inn. His last employer was Storage Tech where he worked as an assembler in the hard drive division, retiring after his health became an issue.
Dana was first and foremost a family man who always put his children first. He enjoyed gardening, appreciating the beauty of the flowers he grew, listening to music with his children, and was an avid coin collector which kept him busy after not being able to work. He enjoyed playing video games (especially the Mario Bros variety) and was a huge fan of Garfield the cat. He was fond of all animals and will be remembered for his kind and gentle manner and willingness to help anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife Lorraine Balle, his son Apollo Balle and his daughter Athena Balle of Longmont. He is further survived by his brothers DJ, AZ and Chris Balle of Denver and his sister Randie Balle-Mason of Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Gary Balle.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7 at the Trinity Baptist Church, with Pastor Sonny Castillega officiating.
