JAMES HENRY MARS

PHILADELPHIA -- Services for James Henry Mars, 75, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Cook and Rev. Norman Boone officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery under the direction of McClain-Hays.

Mars died Friday at Neshoba County Hospital; he was a lifetime resident of this community, a graduate of Philadelphia public schools and the university of Alabama. He attended Columbia University and was Chairman of the Board of Mars Brothers' Department Store.

A member of the board of directors at the Citizen's Bank, Mars was a 50-year member of Philadelphia Masonic Lodges, York Rite Bodies of Meridian and Hamasa Shrine Temple. Mars was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in World War I, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Maxwell Mars of Philadelphia; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Braznell of St. Louis, Mo. and Mrs. Jim Howerton of Newport News, Va.; one son, George Mars of Philadelphia; five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. D. W. Bridges of Athens, Ga.
