Edmund "Eddy" Donald Darby was the son of George Penelton and Mary Jane "Jennie" Cranson Darby. He married Dorothy Virginia Fletcher on January 16, 1931 in Denver, Colorado. During his early years he played baseball in San Francisco, California. He and Dorothy lived on a farm near Hygiene, Colorado for many years and he was one of the founding memebers of the Hygiene Volunteer Fire Department.
