Berda Veach "Birdie" Funston married Montz William Canfield in Rogers Mills County, Oklahoma in 1927.

In 1902, she moved with her parents, James D & Martha Wright Funston, from Lees Summit City, Jackson, Missouri to western Oklahoma, and settled in the former Rankin community which is now Reydon, Roger Mills County.

She was the daughter of James Dillard Funston & Martha Breckenridge Wright Funston.
