Shirley L. Markley
Shirley L. Markley, age 72, of Erie, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie on August 16, 1938, daughter of the late Howard and Margaret O'Brian Markley. Shirley was a lifelong Erie area resident.
She was a member of Holy Rosary R.C. Church.
Shirley was a graduate of Villa Maria High School, Class of 1956, and received her B.S. Degree in Education from Villa Maria College and also received a Masters Degree. She taught in various elementary parochial schools in the Erie Diocese for 50 years, retiring in 2007.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Markley; a brother, Jack Markley; and a brother-in-law, Daniel Feeney.
She is survived by three sisters, Ann Feeney of Union City, Patricia Poland (Karl) of Summit Twp. and Jean Marie Honan (Paul) of Lake City; three brothers, Jim Markley (Ruth) of Erie, Robert Markley (Connie) and Bill Markley all of Millcreek Twp.; a sister-in-law, Shirley A. Markley of Erie; a dear friend, Msgr. Gerald Orbanek; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary R.C. Church at 11 a.m.
Interment, Trinity Cemetery.
