BURTON, S.C. John Charles
Beem, 60, died Sept. 8 at home.
He was born in Mattoon, Ill., and graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. He was a charter member of Beaufort Exchange Club. He was a long-haul truck driver for Schneider National, and a pilot with the Marine Corps for 13 years, serving from 1960-1973 and doing two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received several medals and citations for service.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Ruth Kuhn Beem of Burton; five sons, Paul Beem of Philadelphia, Kevin and Jeff Beem, both of Madison, Conn., Chris Culp of Rochester, Minn., and Nathan Culp of Burton; two daughters, Yvonne Parker of Burton and Terry Thomas of Madison; his father, Paul Leland Beem of Gainesville, Fla.; two sisters, Elaine Beem of Gainesville and Jan West of St. Cloud, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10 a.m. Friday in National Cemetery in Beaufort with military honors.
