1) Willie Jane Armstrong (1862-1947); m. John Henry Clay Leigh (1845-1942).
Ben served in the Confederate 20th TN Infantry and died at the "Battle of Stones River", the second battle of Murfreesboro. He is believed to have been a casualty on the first day of battle, 31 Dec 1862.

Benjamin Leigh Armstrong was killed at the battle of Murfreesboro in 1862, just before the birth of his child. Before he had left for the war, he gave his wife a pin for the baby, in case he did not return. It was always treasured by his daughter, Willie Armstrong, the late Mrs J. H. C. Leigh."
Ben's widow Mary remarried on 18 Mar 1875 to James Pinkerton. She died in 1880 and is buried with her second husband at Rest Haven Cemetery in Williamson Co TN.
