James Jones, 79, of Livingston and formerly of Laure, died on Sunday morning, July 16, 2000 at the Livingston Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Franzen Davis Funeral Home in Livingston. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, at Heritage Baptist Church in Livingston. Graveside committal and burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The Rev. Glen R. Heilig will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Franzen Davis Funeral Home.

Mr. Jones was born on April 20, 1921 in Brantley, Alabama, the son of James Alex and Verby Lee (Everage) Jones. As a young child, he moved with his family to the Kirbyville, Texas area. He grew up and received his education there. As a young man during the tough years of the Depression, he went to work in shipyards in various places along the Gulf Coast of Texas. In 1942 he moved north to Montana, where he began a long career in the railroad industry. He met and married Monica Wanner in 1944 and began a family. Later they were divorced. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad as a heavy equipment operator. His work took him to various places in both Montana and North Dakota. He married Anna Belle Watts-Swanson in Bozeman during 1968. It was about this time that his work allowed him to stay in Laurel and he finsihed his career there. He retired in teh early 1980s and he and Anna Belle moved to Livingston, where they have resided since.

Mr. Jones' favorte hobbies were fishing and camping. He would never tire of either; there were alwyas places to go and fish to catch. He enjoyed visiting family and friends. He was a member ofthe Park County Senior Citizens and was involved in many of their activities. he was a very active member of Heritage Baptist Church, as that was very important to him. He will be greatly missed by all.

His survivors include his beloved wife, Anna Belle; two sons; three daughters; three step-children; three brothers, Charles (Jo Lynn)Jones, John (Martha Fae) Jones and Napolean Jones; four sisters, Laura Ethel Jackson, Verla Mae SMith, Eva Rae Yeates and Kathryn Ruth Davis along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Alex and Verby Lee (Everage) Jones; three brothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be directed to Heritage Baptist Church in Livingston.
