Great grandson of James Clemons Hanlon and Mary Cecelia O'Connell, Grandson of James Frances Hanlon and Esther Milburn; son of Joan Frances Hanlon and Mark Douglas Webb; memorial marked Hanlon.

Obituary: Nicholas Ryan Webb, 26, died peacefully at his home on Saturday August 26, 2006. His memorial mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Student Center at 1150-28th Street in Des Moines, Iowa.

Nicholas was born September 16th, 1979 to Joan and Mark Webb. He and his mother moved to Casper, Wyoming when he was a year old . Wyoming would melt the decades between his grandfather's time in Casper and the 4 years of his young experiences of cowboys and mountains and philosophy. He had a rocking horse named "Cheyenne" and in later years, recalling his time in Wyoming, he would say he lived in Cheyenne and had a horse named Casper! LOL

Moving back to Des Moines, he attended grade school at St. Theresa's until he moved to Denver, Colorado in 1990. He graduated from the Denver Waldorf School in 1998. He attended the Anglo American College of Dublin, Anglo American College in Prague in the Czech Republic as well as Charles University in Prague. He received a certificate in the Serbian language from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia. He had a life long love of learning and was a voracious reader. He was a philosopher and historian. He had owned a pub, Un Chien Andalou, Prague, Czech Republic. It was his proudest accomplishment. He spoke several languages including Czech, Serbian, Russian, Japanese, and a spattering of German in addition to English.

In Colorado Nicholas was a passionate mountain biker and comedic actor.

He had just returned to the United States in February to be with his mother in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his two great-grandmothers, two grandmothers and a grandfather who's world revolved around him. He is survived by his mother, Joan Hanlon, his grandfather, Gorman Webb, two aunts, Sherry Webb and Barbara Hanlon of Des Moines, many cousins, and a world full of friends who were touched by his charm. He could entertain a room full of people with his world theories and stories of his adventures. His dimple and twinkling eyes will forever be remembered.

Nicholas is not buried here, only some of his ashes. This is a memorial plaque which is attached to his g-grandparents gravestone.
