Wilhelmina (Minnie) F. Dietrich was born in 1859 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany to Friedrich Dietrich & Albertina Kollmer. She emigrated from Germany to America in 1881 when she was age 22.

Minnie married Frederick J. Meyer, also a German immigrant, in 1884. Their first child, Frederick Henry Meyer, was born December 1884 and five more children followed -- Elsie Dietrich, Herman William, Albert Louis, Hilda Marie and a sixth child who did not survive, Emilia M. Meyer who died when one year old.

Her husband, Frederick, and his brother started a business in Wilkes-Barre involving both rag collection/sales and scrap metal. The brothers built the business into a very successful enterprise with several locations and finally each went into business for himself. Frederick moved his family from Wilkes-Barre to Philadelphia. After his death in 1903, Minnie and her sons apparently took over his wholesale paper business, and all four were working there. The oldest son, Frederick Henry Meyer, was given charge but was a poor businessman. He failed at managing the business and it later had to be sold. Minnie's sons all went to work at regular jobs on their own.

In 1907, Minnie Meyer, her mother Albertina Dietrich, and two of Minnie's daughters, Elsie and Hilda, all traveled from New York City harbor back to the old country to visit the family left behind.

Minnie lived out her life in Philadelphia but was in Altamart Rest Home in Abingdon at the time of her death. She was buried in the Meyer family plot in Chelten Hills Cemetery with her husband and several of her children. When Minnie and Frederick J. Meyer had lost a child in 1898, the family purchased a family plot in Chelten Hills Cemetery. The plot is marked with a tall, ornate obelisk on which was to be engraved the name of each member of the family buried there, and Emilia was the first name. However, after Frederick himself died in 1903, the family's financial security suffered, and when subsequent burials occurred, they neglected to have names engraved. Therefore, although many Meyer family members are buried there, the obelisk is marked only for Frederick and his child, Emilia.
