Funeral Services were held Monday, November 18, 1991 for Leo E. Allery, 69, of Wood Lake. He died Thursday, November 14, 1991 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.

Services were held at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Michael with Rev. Charles Leute, Rev. Daniel Madlon and Rev. Michael O'Reilly officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Larry Greene, Frank Greene, David Azure, Richard McKay, Darrel Smith and Christopher (Buddy) Alberts. The honorary pallbearers were his former employees and co-workers, friends and family.

Leo E. Allery was born August 13, 1922 ro Martin and Mary (Azure) Allery at Dunseith. At the age of 3, he moved with his parents to the Warwick area. He attended school at St. Michael, Tokio, Fort Totten and Stephan, South Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. He saw action in the Normandy Landing, St Lo and the Battle of the Bulge. He married Ruth Folstad on June 25, 1943 at Minnewaukan. Following his return from service, he was employed on farms in the Warwick area. He was employed by Concrete Sectional Culvert Co, for nine years and then began employment with the Bureau of Indian Affairs until ill health forced his retirement in 1987 after more than 25 years of employment with the BIA.

Survivors are his wife, Ruth; five daughters, Mary Ann Allery of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Mrs. Jack (Diane) Shanley of Tucson, Arizona, Ruth Ann Bradford of Porcupine, South Dakota, Mrs Lawren (Annette) Borstad of Spicer, Minnesota and Mrs. Robert (Joanne)Monette of Devils Lake; three sons, Leo J. Allery Jr. of Long Beach, California, and Gene and Jerry Allery, both of Wood Lake near Tokio; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 half-brothers.

Military honors were conducted by the Neathery-Simensen V.F.W. Post of Devils Lake.
