Carl Willard Bennett, 61, of Parkersburg, formerly of Newark, died Monday, April 6, at the Veterans Hospital in Clarksburg. Born in Wood County June 22, 1908, he was a son of the late B. Frank Bennett and Mrs. Rachel Hunt Bradford, of Parkersburg, who survives. Mr. Bennett was a retired Lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy, with 30 years service. He retired in 1956 and had spent most of his life in Parkersburg, aside from his years in the service. Survivors include two sons, Carl D. Bennett and Andrew B. Bennett, both of Parkersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Loretta M. Weber, of Vienna, and Miss Kathleen Bennett of Parkersburg; and nine grandchildren. Also surviving are six brothers, and two step-brothers, one sister and one step-sister. Funeral services were conducted Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home and burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Wirt County.
