Charles was born to John M and Maud McWhirter, Wells (Nee: Fleming). Charles married Miss Mabel H. Kitchen, a daughter to W.G. and Harriet Kitchen, (Nee: Hubbard) on the 9th of June 1919 in Los Angeles, California. After seven short years together, Charles predeceased his wife, however they now rest in peace together, side by side.
