Virginia Payne Brady

Services for Virginia Payne Brady will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son. Burial will be in the Lecompte Cemetery, Lecompte.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and from 8:30 a.m. Sunday until the time of the service at John Kramer & Son.

Virginia Payne Brady left her earthly life on August 27, 2012.

Mrs. Brady was born in Meeker to Otis Henry Payne, Sr. and Mamie Neal Payne, whom both preceded her in death. She spent her entire life in Lecompte.

She met the love of her life, Walter Ashby Brady, Jr. on November 15, 1947 and was married on July 24, 1948. They were married forty-six years and eight months until his death on March 19, 1995. They had two sons, Walter Allen Brady and Michael Payne Brady.

Mrs. Brady was a graduate of Lecompte High School and Alexandria Business College. She was an employee of Central Electric Company for thirty-eight years and retired as dispatcher in 1992.

She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post #39 Ladies Auxiliary, where she held various offices. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and family was of great importance to her.

Some of her many hobbies included: working in her yard and mowing it until she was eighty; enjoyed watching martins and feeding other birds; watching Nascar and cheering her favorite driver, Tony Stewart.

Mrs. Brady was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ashby Brady, Jr., one son, Michael Brady, and one brother, Otis Henry "O. H." Payne, Jr.

Survivors include one son, Walter Allen Brady and his wife, Patti of Lecompte; one brother, George E. Payne, Sr. of Alexandria, one sister, Hazel LeBlanc of Gonzales; two grandsons, Shane Brady and Paul Weathersby of Lecompte and five great grandchildren, Taylor Brady; Madison Brady; Brittany Deselle; Tanner Deselle and Heather Weathersby; and her beloved puppy, Heidi Lynn.

Pallbearers will be Shane Brady; Paul Weathersby; Chris Reynolds; Lucas Hanks; Joe Fontenot and Jason Shultz. Honorary Pallbearer will be George E. Payne, Jr.

The family would like to acknowledge Brandi Shultz; Angie Weathersby; Shannon Henry and Satasha Melder for all of their help and compassion at this time of need.
