Mr. J. H. Lowe
Died Suddenly
February 1st.
Mr. John H. Lowe, aged 70, died at 6 p.m. Friday at his home in Lanett after having suffered a stroke of apoplexy earlier in the day while visiting a sick friend, Mr. M. H. Cranford.
Mr. Lowe was a native of Harris county, Ga., and had lived in Lanett for a number of years. He was a member of Lanett Methodist church and was a highly respected citizen who had long been active in church and other commuiity affairs. He had lived in Chambers county for 37 years, and was married to Miss Mary Chappell of Penton community in February, 1895.
Surviving him are his wife, five sons, Messrs, Wilmer, Walter and Johnnie Lowe, of Lanett, and C. O. and H. L. Lowe, of Opelika; four daughtrs, Mrs. Olin Bolt, Mrs. Jimmie Seymour and Mrs. Henry Johnson, of Lanett,and Mrs. Howard Hopper, of Johnson City, Tenn., and ten grandchildren. These bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community in thier sorrow.
Funeral services were held at Lanett Methodist church at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. W. L. Spearman, pastor of the deceased, being assisted by Rev. J. D. Dollar, pastor of the Lanett Christian church and Rev. M. G. Tarvin, pastor of the Central Church of Christ, Lanett. Interment was in Lanett cemetery, Johnson & Blakely, funeral directors, in charge.
